JUSTICE SECRETARY NOW POINTS GUN AT UP
Scores of students from Iskolar Student Alliance, a university-wide alliance, of the University of the Philippines- Manila yesterday lambasted Department of Justice Secretary Raul Gonzales in his statement that UP is a breeding ground of anti-government critics.
According to them, “Gonzales is a bad neighbor, a neighbor who mongers rumor”.
The students held a program inside the university campus as they show placards saying that Gonzales is the secretary of chismis not of Justice. The UP community is known for its critical-minded students especially on the issues that affect the country.
“This prime university is giving a good education that taught us to think critical and we have all the reason to criticize this government after the unjust social and economic policies imposed, its anti-people track record and UP’s decreasing state subsidy”, they supported.
Gonzales early mentioned rash statements on Ms. Susan Roces and former president Corazon Aquino
“Instead of spreading unfound gossip and injudicious statements, what he should do is to be busy himself with pile-loads of work”, they added.
Students told the reporter that they would remain vigilant especially on statements that will mess up the reputation of the university especially the students.
